Il carattere di ogni città risiede nella stratificazione storica delle sue costruzioni. Palazzi, strade e parchi cambiano volto con il passare degli anni. Accade quindi che sull'altare del progresso si annientino spazi e antiche vestigia per fare posto alle necessità dei "Tempi Moderni". Eppure, malgrado ciò, l'anima dell'urbe non ne viene scalfita perchè la storia di un popolo si nutre di ciò che cambia e si evolve. Con la fotografia ho voluto certificare il cambiamento di un quartiere di Firenze chiamato Novoli e che vuol dire "terreno da arare". Un terreno agricolo che nel tempo è stato ampiamente trasformato e urbanizzato. In questa area è possibile ancora oggi ammirare alcuni manufatti civili ed industriali del dopoguerra con accanto moderne costruzioni. Dal nulla è di fatto nata una Nova Civitas, un chiaro esempio di come si evolvono le città. Mentre scattavo ad un certo punto mi sono fermato per ammirare il Tempo sornione sorridere allo Spazio. Dopotutto l'oggi non è altro che un piccolo trattino tra la realtà di un passato ed un futuro immaginario.
Project Statement
The character of every city lies in the historical stratification of its buildings. Palaces, streets, and parks change over the years. Thus, on the altar of progress, spaces and ancient vestiges are destroyed to make way for the needs of "Modern Times." Yet, despite this, the soul of the city remains untouched, because the history of a people is nourished by what changes and evolves. Through photography, I wanted to document the transformation of a neighborhood in Florence called Novoli, which means "plowable land." This agricultural land has been extensively transformed and urbanized over time. In this area, it is still possible to admire some post-war civil and industrial structures alongside modern buildings. From nothing, a Nova Civitas was born, a clear example of how cities evolve. While I was shooting, at a certain point, I stopped to admire Time slyly smiling at Space. After all, today is nothing more than a small hyphen between the reality of a past and an imagined future.
