Fotografare questi antichi strumenti di lavoro nelle saline della provincia di Trapani, in Sicilia, è stato come immergermi nei reali valori della vita. Immaginare quei mulini macinare il sale, un prodotto alimentare così importante che nell'antica Roma veniva utilizzato come moneta per pagare i soldati, ha elevato l'animo verso l'essenza dei veri temi esistenziali. Sono immagini volutamente monocromatiche, essenziali, dirette ad evidenziare le forme e l'ambiente che ha reso immortali queste antiche vestigia. Li reputo solenni monumenti da salvaguardare, collocati in una dimensione senza tempo a testimonianza di valori perenni.
Project Statement
Photographing these ancient work tools in the salt pans of the province of Trapani, Sicily, was like immersing myself in the true values of life. Imagining those mills grinding salt, a food product so important that in ancient Rome it was used as currency to pay soldiers, elevated my soul to the essence of true existential themes. These images are deliberately monochromatic, essential, designed to highlight the forms and environment that have made these ancient vestiges immortal. I consider them solemn monuments to be protected, placed in a timeless dimension as a testimony to enduring values.
