MEMORIA

Time finds meaning in memory.

What remains is not merely a trace of what has been.

Matter bears witness to ideas, values, aspirations and conflicts that have passed through time. Its forms may lose their function, their integrity and even the world to which they belonged, yet what they carry can continue to speak to the present.

Memoria explores this persistence. The image does not look at ruins as remnants of a concluded existence, but as presences through which the past continues to manifest itself. Their physical condition belongs to time; their meaning does not necessarily belong to the past.

Memory is what allows this distance to be crossed. Through it, what has been can continue to question what is.
