Il Mar Mediterraneo, Il Mare Nostrum come lo chiamavano i Romani, ha rappresentato per secoli, ed è tutt'ora, la via per lo sviluppo di commerci, migrazioni e di civiltà; è genitrice di vita e di morte, dispensatrice di aspirazioni e disperazioni. Il Mediterraneo è l'emblema del duro lavoro di antiche e moderne marinerie, di popoli che si sono confrontati e nutriti dei frutti delle sue acque. Questo piccolo bacino è la culla di una grande civiltà, illuminata dal dialogo e dallo sviluppo del pensiero. I ritmi di questa gente sono scanditi ora dal lento fluire delle onde ora dall'impeto delle sue mareggiate. Storie, profumi e colori rimasti ancora oggi intatti e patrimonio di future generazioni.
Project Statement
The Mediterranean Sea, Mare Nostrum as the Romans called it, has for centuries represented, and still remains, the gateway to the development of trade, migration, and civilization; it is the originator of life and death, the dispenser of aspirations and despair. The Mediterranean is the emblem of the hard work of ancient and modern navies, of peoples who have confronted and nourished themselves with the fruits of its waters. This small basin is the cradle of a great civilization, illuminated by dialogue and the development of thought. The rhythms of these people are marked now by the slow flow of the waves, now by the force of its storm surges. Stories, scents, and colors remain intact today and are the heritage of future generations.
