MATERIA NOBILIS

MATERIA NOBILIS arises from the observation of matter when, freed from the function for which it was shaped, it continues to manifest a presence that no longer depends on its utility.

The architectures portrayed are considered neither as ruins nor as historical testimonies. Time has altered their form, removing parts of their structure and interrupting their function, without erasing what continues to manifest itself through them.

Stone, light, sky, and emptiness now participate in a new order. Roofs disappear and the sky enters the architecture; openings no longer merely define space, but become forms through which matter and emptiness define one another. What appears incomplete retains a presence that does not need to be reconstructed in order to affirm its value.

Photography does not seek what these architectures once were, but what they continue to be. Their nobility lies in matter's capacity to manifest Existence beyond function, integrity, and time.
