MATERIA IN ITINERE

Matter in Itinere explores transformation as a condition of the journey of Existence. Forms travel through time, changing, losing their function or assuming a new one, while what brought them into being may continue to endure as the trace of an essential principle.

The windmill embodies this tension between change and permanence. It is matter transformed by human ingenuity and, at the same time, matter capable of transforming: a form conceived to receive an invisible force of nature and translate it into a possibility for life. As it endures through time, the structure continues to bear witness to the relationship between necessity, thought, and matter from which it originated. Matter does not simply undergo change: it makes change possible.

Through subtraction, photography suspends these structures from their contingent context, releasing them from what is not essential to their presence. The windmill ceases to belong solely to a particular place and time, emerging instead as a testament to human ingenuity and its capacity to engage with the forces of nature. In the ceaseless journey of forms, everything may change, while something essential continues to endure.
