FORTITUDO SPIRITUS
Existence does not coincide with the form of the body. It passes through it.
Spiritus, understood in its original Latin sense of vital breath, is not conceived as something separate from matter. It is the force that traverses it, the inner tension through which the living being continually affirms its presence beyond the limits of appearance.
Throughout the series, the human figure progressively loses the stability of its recognizable form. At times it remains almost intact; at others it fragments, expands, or assumes unexpected configurations. These transformations do not describe physical metamorphoses. They make perceptible different manifestations of an inner strength that cannot be represented directly.
Digital intervention becomes an integral part of this investigation. Through processes of fragmentation, addition, and reconstruction, the photographic image is transformed according to the expressive necessity of each work. These processes are not formal effects, but instruments through which photography questions the limits of the visible and approaches what cannot be directly represented.
Fortitudo Spiritus does not seek to reveal what lies beyond the body. It investigates what passes through it. Photography does not describe strength; it creates the conditions in which its presence can be perceived.
