FLUMEN

Water runs through human history as an essential and enduring condition of life. Places, civilizations, and the forms through which water is gathered and used may change, yet the necessity that binds every form of life to its presence remains.

In Flumen, the great rivers evoked by the titles of the works extend this relationship across different territories and times. Landscape and crystal overlap until their boundaries become uncertain: the water that flows through and nourishes the land symbolically encounters the vessel created by humankind to receive it. The different forms of the glasses thus become expressions of the many ways in which life depends upon and relates to water.

The photographic transformation does not erase the distinction between nature and human presence, but visually reconnects them within a cycle of mutual dependence. Through changing forms and the passage of time, water endures as one of the fundamental conditions through which matter sustains life and Existence continues to manifest itself.
