In FLORENTIA, la città di Firenze viene sottratta alla contemporaneità e restituita come spazio della memoria. Le immagini evocano antiche stampe sbiadite dal tempo, in cui la patina dell’età non indebolisce l’identità dei luoghi, ma ne rivela l’anima più profonda. Il progetto propone una visione sospesa, lontana da ogni intento descrittivo o turistico, per concentrarsi sull’essenza formale e simbolica dell’architettura storica.
L’assenza della figura umana e del colore non genera vuoto, ma silenzio contemplativo. I monumenti emergono come presenze vive, cariche di una vitalità che risiede nella materia stessa, nelle superfici segnate dal tempo, nella luce che ne modella i volumi. Il bianco e nero diventa così strumento di astrazione e di sintesi, capace di enfatizzare la consistenza delle forme e di liberare l’immagine da ogni elemento superfluo.
FLORENTIA restituisce una città intrisa di storia, arte e valori universali, trasformando lo spazio urbano in un luogo mentale e simbolico. Queste “cartoline dal passato” non celebrano la nostalgia, ma invitano a un’esperienza lenta dello sguardo, in cui il tempo non è perdita, bensì stratificazione dei sensi.
Project statement
In FLORENTIA, the city of Florence is removed from the contemporary and restored as a space of memory. The images evoke ancient prints faded by time, where the patina of age does not weaken the identity of the places, but rather reveals their deepest soul. The project offers a suspended vision, far from any descriptive or touristic intent, to focus on the formal and symbolic essence of historic architecture.
The absence of the human figure and color does not generate emptiness, but rather contemplative silence. The monuments emerge as living presences, charged with a vitality that resides in the material itself, in the surfaces marked by time, in the light that shapes their volumes. Black and white thus becomes a tool of abstraction and synthesis, capable of emphasizing the consistency of forms and freeing the image from all superfluous elements.
FLORENTIA recreates a city steeped in history, art, and universal values, transforming the urban space into a mental and symbolic place. These “postcards from the past” do not celebrate nostalgia, but invite a slow experience of the gaze, in which time is not a loss, but rather a stratification of the senses.
