La Dimensione Surreale è un territorio instabile in cui tempo, identità e memoria cessano di essere categorie distinte e diventano materia visiva. Le immagini non rappresentano una realtà alternativa, ma un livello sommerso del presente: uno spazio in cui l’esperienza individuale si frantuma e si ricompone attraverso sovrapposizioni, simboli e discontinuità percettive.
Il tempo perde la sua funzione lineare e si manifesta come accumulo e sospensione, mentre il corpo diventa un luogo di tensione e proiezione. Cornici, oggetti e superfici trasparenti agiscono come dispositivi simbolici che alludono ai ruoli, alle maschere e ai meccanismi attraverso cui l’identità contemporanea viene costruita, esposta e continuamente ridefinita.
La figura umana assume una dimensione allegorica: non descrive individui, ma stati di coscienza, fragilità e desideri irrisolti. Attraverso stratificazioni visive, alterazioni cromatiche e interferenze formali, il progetto esplora il confine instabile tra controllo e smarrimento, tra ciò che è visibile e ciò che rimane in tensione sotto la superficie.
Il surreale, in questo contesto, non è evasione né nostalgia storica, ma uno strumento critico. Un linguaggio che permette di interrogare l’inquietudine dell’esistenza contemporanea, mettendo in discussione l’idea di identità come forma stabile e rivelando la natura ambigua e contraddittoria dell’esperienza umana.
Project Statement
The Surreal Dimension is an unstable territory in which time, identity, and memory cease to exist as separate categories and instead become visual matter. The images do not depict an alternative reality, but a submerged layer of the present: a space where individual experience fragments and recomposes itself through superimposition, symbols, and perceptual discontinuities.
Time loses its linear function and manifests as accumulation and suspension, while the body becomes a site of tension and projection. Frames, objects, and transparent surfaces operate as symbolic devices, alluding to roles, masks, and the mechanisms through which contemporary identity is constructed, exposed, and continuously redefined.
The human figure assumes an allegorical dimension: it does not represent individuals, but states of consciousness, fragility, and unresolved desire. Through visual stratifications, chromatic alterations, and formal interferences, the project explores the unstable threshold between control and disorientation, between what is visible and what remains in tension beneath the surface.
The surreal, in this context, is neither escapism nor historical nostalgia, but a critical instrument. A language through which to interrogate the unease of contemporary existence, challenging the notion of identity as a stable form and revealing the ambiguous, contradictory nature of human experience.
