Basilica è un’indagine sulla materia attraversata dal tempo e sulla sua capacità di rivelare ciò che normalmente resta invisibile.
Non fotografo un edificio: metto alla prova la percezione del reale, lasciando che superfici, riflessi e patine diventino un linguaggio instabile, dove ordine e disordine coesistono.
Le griglie si incrinano, i volumi si velano, la luce deposita memorie intermittenti. Le coordinate di tempo e spazio si indeboliscono: il palazzo può apparire come rovina futura o residuo del passato. In questa ambiguità prende forma una tensione tra presenza e dissoluzione, tra controllo e imprevisto, in cui la materia non è solo ciò che vediamo, ma ciò che afferra e trattiene.
Attraverso interventi cromatici e scelte compositive, seleziono e trasformo colori, linee e dettagli per generare realtà non univoche. La fotografia non riproduce: suggerisce.
Qui il caos non è perdita di senso ma origine della forma: la superficie erosa diventa matrice di significato, il vetro un palinsesto, la pietra una memoria che affiora.
Sotto la metamorfosi della materia, lo spirito dell’architettura rimane. Basilica appartiene ai lavori dedicati alla Materia: l’uomo è assente, eppure evocato. È in questo confine – tra materiale e interiore – che la mia Fotografia del Caos cerca il suo punto di equilibrio.
Project Statement
Basilica is an inquiry into matter as it is traversed by time, and into its power to reveal what usually remains invisible.
I do not document a building; I challenge the perception of the real, allowing surfaces, reflections, and patinas to become an unstable language where order and disorder coexist.
Grids fracture, volumes turn translucent, light deposits intermittent memories. The coordinates of time and space weaken: the courthouse may appear as a future ruin or a residue of the past. Within this ambiguity, a tension emerges between presence and dissolution, control and the unforeseen, where matter is not only what we see but what holds and retains.
Through chromatic interventions and compositional choices, I select and transform colors, lines, and details to generate non‑univocal realities. Photography here does not reproduce; it suggests.
Chaos is not loss of meaning but the origin of form: eroded surfaces become matrices of sense, glass turns into a palimpsest, stone into a memory surfacing.
Beneath the metamorphosis of matter, the spirit of the architecture remains. Basilica belongs to my works on Matter: the human figure is absent, yet invoked. It is along this boundary—between the material and the interior—that my Photography of Chaos searches for its balance.
