VIS MATERIAE esplora la materia come fenomeno percepito e interpretato, sospeso tra concretezza e illusione. Le opere rappresentano figure umane astratte, ciascuna evocativa di una divinità dell’Olimpo, dove il corpo diventa contenitore di archetipi universali e la materia si trasforma in simbolo di potenza e significato.

In questo progetto, la materia non è solo ciò che tocchiamo o vediamo: è ciò che la mente riconosce, interpreta e accetta. Le figure umane, pur essendo solide nella loro presenza fisica, mantengono una qualità eterea, sottolineando come l’esistenza umana e divina si misuri non solo nella forma, ma nella forza invisibile che le anima.

Attribuire a ciascuna figura i nomi delle divinità dell’Olimpo diventa un gesto simbolico: la materia e il corpo sono il veicolo attraverso cui si manifesta il mito, il potere e le emozioni universali. La tensione tra materia e immateriale, tra corpo e spirito, invita lo spettatore a riflettere sul significato dell’esistenza, sulla percezione della realtà e sulla capacità dell’uomo di trascendere la forma per trovare senso nell’immateriale.

VIS MATERIAE si pone così come indagine sulla forza della materia, non come pura presenza fisica, ma come medium di esperienza, archetipi e memoria collettiva, dove il tangibile e l’intangibile si incontrano e si rispecchiano.

Project statement

VIS MATERIAE – The Strength of Matter explores matter as a phenomenon both perceived and interpreted, suspended between concreteness and illusion. The works depict abstract human figures, each evoking a deity from Olympus, where the body becomes a vessel of universal archetypes and matter transforms into a symbol of power and meaning.

In this project, matter is not only what we touch or see: it is what the mind recognizes, interprets, and accepts. The human figures, while solid in their physical presence, retain an ethereal quality, emphasizing that human and divine existence is measured not by form alone, but by the invisible force that animates it.

Assigning the names of Olympian deities to each figure becomes a symbolic gesture: matter and the body are the medium through which myth, power, and universal emotions manifest. The tension between matter and the immaterial, between body and spirit, invites the viewer to reflect on the meaning of existence, the perception of reality, and the human capacity to transcend form to find significance in the immaterial.

VIS MATERIAE is thus an investigation into the strength of matter, not as mere physical presence, but as a medium of experience, archetypes, and collective memory, where the tangible and the intangible meet and reflect one another.
