MULIERES nasce come un’indagine intima sul femminile inteso non come identità definita, ma come materia emotiva in continua trasformazione. La fotografia diventa strumento di introspezione, capace di evocare interrogativi più che fornire risposte, di suggerire stati interiori piuttosto che descrivere forme.
Le immagini si costruiscono attraverso un uso deciso del chiaroscuro, in cui la luce non svela completamente il soggetto ma ne accarezza i margini, lasciando ampie zone d’ombra. In questo spazio sospeso tra visibile e invisibile, il corpo femminile si manifesta per frammenti: uno sguardo, una bocca, una linea del collo, una spalla. La sottrazione dell’insieme diventa una scelta consapevole, volta a superare ogni intento descrittivo per concentrarsi sull’interiorità.
Il volto, spesso celato o parzialmente oscurato, perde la sua funzione identitaria per assumere un valore simbolico. Gli occhi, immersi nell’ombra o schermati, non cercano un dialogo diretto con lo spettatore, ma trattengono un enigma, suggerendo una distanza che rafforza la dimensione introspettiva del progetto. La donna non si offre allo sguardo, ma si protegge, si ritrae, custodisce.
In MULIERES, il femminile emerge come spazio complesso e stratificato, attraversato da contraddizioni, silenzi e tensioni. Un caos esistenziale che non viene negato né risolto, ma abitato consapevolmente. La donna diventa così soggetto attivo della propria ricerca interiore, capace di navigare nel proprio disordine emotivo come forma di conoscenza.
Il progetto si configura come un percorso visivo ed emotivo che invita ad un confronto silenzioso, lasciando aperta ogni interpretazione e riaffermando il valore dell’enigma come elemento essenziale dell’esperienza umana.
Project Statement
MULIERES begins as an intimate investigation of femininity, understood not as a defined identity, but as an emotional substance in constant transformation. Photography becomes a tool of introspection, capable of evoking questions rather than providing answers, of suggesting inner states rather than describing forms.
The images are constructed through a decisive use of chiaroscuro, in which the light does not completely reveal the subject but caresses its edges, leaving large areas of shadow. In this space suspended between visible and invisible, the female body reveals itself in fragments: a gaze, a mouth, a line of the neck, a shoulder. The subtraction of the whole becomes a conscious choice, aimed at transcending any descriptive intent to focus on interiority.
The face, often hidden or partially obscured, loses its identifying function and takes on a symbolic value. The eyes, immersed in shadow or shielded, do not seek a direct dialogue with the viewer, but retain an enigma, suggesting a distance that reinforces the introspective dimension of the project. The woman does not offer herself to the gaze, but protects, withdraws, guards.
In MULIERES, the feminine emerges as a complex and layered space, traversed by contradictions, silences, and tensions. An existential chaos that is neither denied nor resolved, but consciously inhabited. Women thus become active subjects of their own inner exploration, capable of navigating their emotional turmoil as a form of knowledge.
The project takes the form of a visual and emotional journey that invites silent discussion, leaving every interpretation open and reaffirming the value of enigma as an essential element of the human experience.
