l disagio non è un evento improvviso, ma una condizione che si deposita lentamente. È fatto di silenzi, di gesti ripetuti, di corpi che si chiudono su se stessi. In questo progetto osservo il momento in cui il dolore smette di essere reazione e diventa stato permanente, una presenza quotidiana con cui impariamo a convivere.
Le immagini mostrano figure immobili o stanche, sospese in spazi che non offrono riparo. I corpi sono piegati, seduti a terra, appoggiati a pareti ruvide, come se il peso emotivo li spingesse verso il basso. Gli sguardi evitano il confronto diretto o si perdono nel vuoto, mentre piccoli gesti automatici – fumare, stringere un oggetto, abbassare la testa – diventano tentativi fragili di contenere ciò che non trova parole.
Gli ambienti sono chiusi, compressi, spesso anonimi. Non raccontano una storia precisa, ma riflettono uno spazio interiore, amplificano una sensazione di isolamento e di stallo.
Gli oggetti presenti nelle immagini non spiegano, ma suggeriscono. Sono estensioni emotive: anestetici temporanei, pesi da portare, segnali di una vulnerabilità esposta. Nulla risolve il disagio, nulla lo giustifica. Rimane una condizione opaca, difficile da nominare, che si preferisce accettare piuttosto che affrontare fino in fondo.
Disagio indaga la rassegnazione come rifugio silenzioso. Non sono le costrizioni esterne a immobilizzare i soggetti, ma l’incapacità – o il rifiuto – di dare una forma consapevole alla sofferenza. Le immagini non cercano una catarsi, né una risposta. Invitano piuttosto a sostare in quella zona scomoda e fragile in cui la verità è percepita, ma non ancora ammessa.
Project Statement
Discomfort is not a sudden event, but a slowly developing condition. It is made of silences, repeated gestures, and bodies that withdraw into themselves. In this project, I observe the moment when pain ceases to be a reaction and becomes a permanent state, a daily presence we learn to live with.
The images show immobile or tired figures, suspended in spaces that offer no shelter. The bodies are bent, sitting on the floor, leaning against rough walls, as if the emotional burden were pushing them downward. Their gazes avoid direct confrontation or are lost in the void, while small, automatic gestures—smoking, clutching an object, lowering one's head—become fragile attempts to contain what remains unspoken.
The spaces are closed, compressed, often anonymous. They don't tell a specific story, but reflect an interior space, amplifying a feeling of isolation and stalemate.
The objects in the images don't explain, but suggest. They are emotional extensions: temporary anesthetics, burdens to bear, signs of exposed vulnerability. Nothing resolves discomfort, nothing justifies it. It remains an opaque condition, difficult to name, one that we prefer to accept rather than fully confront.
Disagio explores resignation as a silent refuge. It is not external constraints that immobilize the subjects, but the inability—or refusal—to give conscious form to suffering. The images do not seek catharsis, nor an answer. Rather, they invite us to linger in that uncomfortable and fragile zone where the truth is perceived, but not yet admitted.
